These 5 x 7 inch or 6 x 6 inch mounted prints with gold-embossed details feature images from the Lost Sight Series (clockwise from top left): Word Made Flesh (Mary with infant Christ), We Are One (Holy Trinity) or Christ Jesus. The imagery is that of Christianity’s most beloved images – vibrant expressions of devotion on rich multi-layer background explorations of color and texture. Each piece features German Scripture text background and collage application of key phrases. Mounted print is ready for hanging or standing display on 3/4 inch deep panel board.

ARTIST STATEMENT
I created these pieces in conjunction with a blog series I wrote in at the 500-year anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. The blog series explores the disruption of the art and faith connection that came about during the Reformation. Pages of text copied from a Luther Bible I found at the local recycling center became the base for each collage piece. My intent was to restore a traditional icon image to each of the passages selected thereby reconnecting the Protestant faith (with its high regard for Scripture) to the Christian expressions of art it had abandoned.
Word Made Flesh — Based on the Vladimir Madonna, Mary makes eye contact with the viewer and her hands gestures toward the Christ child in her arms. Her gaze asks… Do you know my son?... He is the Way. German translations of applied text: In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. — John 1:4/And the Word was made flesh — John 1:9 Background text is John 1.
We Are One — Based on Andrei Rublev’s Holy Trinity—the Hospitality of Abraham, we see three angels each representing a member of the Trinity seated at a table. German translations of applied text: ...that they may be one even as we are one… — John 17:22 Background text is John 17.
Christ Jesus — Based on the Pantocrator icon, Christ holds the Gospel in his left hand while gesturing a sign of blessing with his right. German translations of Applied text: Christ Jesus/And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. — Colossians 1:1 Background text is Colossians 1-2.
