I have painted many angels over the past 2 years in my daily painting challenge. This one is based on the bronze sculpture that hangs over the entrance to the Chapel at the Shepherd’s Field near Bethlehem.

I like making an angel look nonhuman. I prefer if the skin is darker. There should be a quality to the face that is somewhat frightening at first glance but also feminine and gentle.

I use dots in many of my paintings to symbolize the energy and power embodied in a heavenly being such as an angel. For this painting specifically, those dots represent Truth, the message being conveyed by this angel to Daniel.
