Look Out the Window
Drive By Montana – photograph by Michelle L Hofer, 2020
Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn. — John Muir
In my mind travel time equals work time and reading time. When I fly somewhere, I make good progress, but when we drive, I can’t help but pay attention to what is happening in the landscape we are venturing through. Nature calls to me and I get lost exploring the textures and colors as we wiz along. I am then tempted to capture what I see. This is mostly a futile act as drive by photography rarely turns out. But every so often I snap something that isn’t terrible like this image from our recent venture to Montana.
